Praia da Luz

The seaside village of Praia da Luz (pronounced loozh) lies just outside Lagos, 6km to the west. Traditionally it has been a fishing village specializing in octopus potting.

Today Luz is a small yet thriving beach resort with quality waterside apartments & villas. The main attraction being Luz's beach with its arced bay and stunning headland; the Rocha Negra.

The surrounding beaches are all beautiful and unique. Praia de Porto de Mós can be reached on foot along the cliff road. The picture postcard Praia donna Anna is just outside Lagos & the Atlantic Costa Vicentina beaches near Sagres are breathtaking and wild..

Other than the glorious beaches Luz is a fully equipped resort with ample quality shops, restaurants & bars. There are two water sports centers on the beach offering sailing, windsurfing and deep-sea diving. Surfing is possible at Luz although the waves are much bigger on the Atlantic coast.
