Estepona's more isolated position has its own attraction. The hour and a quarter's drive from Malaga airport ensures that the visitor will encounter a town which, although extremely popular with tourists worldwide and having undergone a number of improvements of late, has not experienced the heavy-duty "face-lifts" of Marbella and Benalmadena. Locals will proudly claim that, despite the lure of radical cosmetic surgery, Estepona has determinedly clung to her Spanish charm and laid-back ambience.
Apart from the beach and long, scenic promenade which stretches the length of the town, the main feature is the port.
